Worcester Regional Airport More Then Worcester/Leicester
Boards and Commissions in the City of Worcester have a residency requirement. When the airport was owned by the City of Worcester, you can understand why there was a residency requirement.
Now that the airport is owned by Massport??? Lets look at the Worcester Airport Advisory Committee and the residency requirement today:
Worcester must appoint Worcester residents (4); Leicester must appoint Leicester residents (2); MassPort must appoint citizens that reside within ten miles of the Airport boundary, provided that two of the three reside within the City of Worcester (3). Members must have knowledge, experience and interest in aviation, economic development, planning, land use development and environmental issues.
In other words there will be at least 6 Worcester Residents, 2 Leicester residents and 1 within 10 miles of airport boundary.
Take a look at the Massport Board . There is no "Boston" requirement? Botton line is that Massport Board has no Boston residency requirement, Worcester Advisory Board should not have a Worcester residency requirement either.
Consider this change all part of the marketing plan to change the image of Worcester "Regional" Airport.

I think this would be a great idea. I certainly would be interested in a position.

residency requirements are a recipe for disaster and incompetence
