Philadelphia, NYC & Detroit Are Hub Connections

We hope this is not this is what $300,000 has come up with?? This ad is so bad!!! We can fly to 5 destinations from Worcester ???? Detroit, New York and Philadelphia are the hubs for 3 legacy airlines. The message needs to be more like this!!!

We need to sell the possibilities from Worcester. Since this ad was on the back page of the Telegram yesterday, maybe it was an April Fool's Day joke?? Bet Delta sold a ton of tickets to Detroit yesterday from Worcester Airport.

American had a big announcement the other day about their new flights to Edinburgh direct from Philadelphia. Maybe ads showing destinations like Edinburgh that we can reach from Worcester would be a better idea???? You know #WhereIFlyORH??

All of this gets us to think about how we chose Sling TV this week, when we dropped Charter at the office. How good is their marketing?

Or how about Cumberland Farms this past week. Talk about a company, who has completely changed their image and now they hire Ric Flair-- WOOO

Our idea to change the image of Worcester Airport is to run big ads that completely miss the mark in the Worcester Telegram on a Monday???

All we really need is

1) Work with Holy Cross, JetBlue (Joan Geraghty Class of 1994) and Massport for a sign facing Route 290 East traffic.
2) Get a location for Route 290 West traffic
3) Hire Denis Leary as a spokemsan

Start the "Why We Don't Suck" Campaign yesterday.

1) Destinations that you can reach from Worcster
2) No traffic, no tolls, no tunnel
3) $7 per day parking

Does nothing please you? They are finally starting to advertise! Are you thinking they spent 300k on a half page ad? You gripe that no one knows that there's air service out of orh. This ad says 5 major cities. People who fly already know you can connect. Ads are meant to catch your eye. Listing 200 connecting cities will only complicate the ad. This ad says you can fly Worcester, a great first step in promoting the airport. PS, I don't think Worcester wants someone who ridicules autism parents as their spokesperson.

People who fly already know you can connect???? really... Maybe you should read this from Denis Leary. He has done so much good for the City of Worcester and would be an awesome spokesperson. https://www.ageofautism.com/2008/10/denis-leary-res.html

Very confusing. It looks like pictures of a bunch of cruise ships. I thought they wanted to target the Metro-West area? I'm not sure how an ad in our dying local paper does that. I am encouraged that Massport and the City are participating in a big expo for the Metro-West area, but this ad seems like a big waste of money. Years ago, the City did some TV ads that were pretty effective. Having a spokesman like Dennis Leary doing TV spots might work really well. I attended a show at the Hanover Saturday. The big banners hanging from the Federal Square Garage are directly visible to every patron exiting the theatre. Also, an ad on the back page of the program would help. People that attend shows at the Hanover come from all areas of Central New England. Most have decent disposable incomes. These are exactly the people ORH wants to attract. Hopefully Mr. Davis and Massport won't be so pigheaded and take some suggestions.

Does anyone notice that the comments defend the actions at the airport are always from anonymous posters, who call us negative naysayers. When do negative naysayers who are always right considered postive critics who want airport to be a success!!

I doubt a road sign is that effective..anyway if you want to go down that route why not signs on 90 and/or 495 instead of 290?

Boston Logan has added multiple daily and near daily flights to two business destinations that I frequent: Washington, DC and Las Vegas. Its because there is overwhelming demand for these destinations, usually by people who are not price sensitive (they are business expenses paid in pre-tax dollars, not people going to Vegas for vacation or bachelor/bachelorette parties). These travelers ARE convenience sensitive, however, and Logan can be anything BUT convenient to get to and from and to park. Ancillary costs, even to non-price sensitive travelers, can add up. Those costs simply do not exist at Worcester and the convenience is astounding. If we added at least one of those destinations on Jet Blue, the flights would sell themselves.

I flew to Las Vegas in November on Jetblue. You currently can get to Vegas from ORH on Jetblue, American and Delta (starting in August). Maybe your suggesting a direct flight, but I'm not sure you can fill 80% of the seats on a daily flight. I think people don't realize all the places they can get to from the hubs these airlines fly to from ORH. Also, I think reliability is more important to travers than cheap parking and check-in. This is important to business travelers you must get to their destination to attend important meetings with clients. Although ORH has the CAT III landing system, I think that the AA planes or pilots aren't able to take advantage of that rigth now. You make some good point

I do appreciate some sign of effort but it's just baffling why we keep advertising these cities individually. Isn't the whole point of Detroit west-bound connections? Where in this ad is that made clear? No one really is expected to know Delta has a decent hub with connections in Detroit. (Everyone knows Delta and Atlanta though, but we won't go down that road). It just really doesn't seem that hard.

What I wouldn't give for a ORH to Silicon Valley flight on United.. Going thru NYC or any east coast airport is a non-starter. It adds way too much time to the flight.. There's LOTS of businesses in the 495 area that do business in the SF Bay Area as well. I'm SO tired of going in and out of Logan.

Has delta given up already? All flights after 8/12 show sold out. I’m booked on a flight in November and can’t even book another ticket on the same flight

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We aren’t affiliated with Delta in any way but it appears there are no flights being offered between November 23 to December 1, aka the busiest travel week of the year. Shows real commitment to ORH I know. I would call Delta reservations and speak to someone directly to confirm.

I did this because of exactly waht you mentioned-I canot rely on getting to and from my destination when I need to be there. I got stranded twice by ORH. The single JetBlue flight got canceled the night before once, and then a delay at O'Hare caused me to miss the single flight back to ORH from JFK. I ended up having to go to BOS anyway and hire a car to drive me back to ORH to get my own car. After those experiences I gave up on ORH as much as I want ORH to succeed. All it would take is a second JFK flight each day and I would be back.

According the the Herald Mr. Davis is being paid $170k per year. For what? Maybe that’s where half the marketing money is going.
