I'm concerned that the fact they had commercial service from ORH before that was cancelled might make them a little gun-shy. I could be mistaken (it could have been Direct Air), but when they pulled out the last time it shocked and angered the city manager and the council. They thought things were going well because the flights were getting load factors in the 80-85% range. The airline said they needed 100% loads to make it worth their while. Maybe they’ll give ORH a second chance.

You’re right CS. The city was pissed because Allegiant came in, didn’t do anything to improve service, and left the day the year of incentives was up. Just in and out to make a quick buck. Now there’s new management at both ends, Allegiant is twice the airline they were back in ‘06 and would do great at ORH - something JetBlue has no interest in doing.

They don't fly out of Logan so if they did start service here it would be a sincere effort to make it work and grow (not just a way to get favors at Logan). It looks like they fly from T.F Green to a couple of FL cities that might be attractive to people in our area. Our current management at ORH couldn't sell life to a dead man so I'm not confident they can attract an airline they don't have leverage over.

Common Sense is right! The current leadership sucks! What have they done since they bought the place? NOTHING!!! I say we rewind back to the turn of the millenia when the City owned it and the was overseen by Bob Nemeth and his commission. Remember the millions they dumped into the airport? Remember the 6 airlines that flew out of there (including the short lived PanAm and Allegiant), only to be chased away by the ace crack airport manager and his reprobate managers that were banished from Logan. And the FBO that was nothing more then a gas station with a building that was an embarrassment to Worcester. Yea, the current leadership sucks. Let's drive them out with pitchforks. They've done diddely squat with the airport completely struck out bringing airlines back!!! Better yet bring on Steve Wynn and NHRA and turn the place into a drag racing casino.

I know some of you think differently, but I'm not ready to give up on the JFK flight. If JB put some money into marketing they could probably get the loads up to 75%. That has a multiplying effect as the more people that fly, they'll tell their friends, co-workers and family about it. It's a huge benefit to be able to fly from ORH to one of the largest international airports in the world (and all the domestics and international destinations it provides). My neighbor is a die-hard ORH fan. Next week she's flying JB to JFK and then making a connection directly to Barbados. Some of my former classmates from Holy Cross were from the NYC and Long Island area. The ability to fly there from ORH is very attractive to them. All we need is for JB to put some money into making people aware that this flight exists. It's time for our business community and the Chamber of Commerce to step up to the plate. They've already committed millions to lure the Pawsox here so kicking $50,000 for marketing these flights should be doable.

Couldn’t agree more fellas. My whole thing which you’re right CS angers me ,which it shouldn’t, is that the effort put into the airport right now makes it hard to judge what the airport is really capable of. If the schedule was good and the planes were still empty I would say you’re right there is no market. But with JFK set up the way it is plus the complete lack of advertising blows my mind why any money was invested into the airport in the first place.
