Frontier Starts December
For years, we have recommended a discount carrier to popular leisure destinations like the Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico and Myrtle Beach. Portsmouth is doing exactly that. Check out this this column.
Currently Portsmouth has two flights per week with Allegiant to Myrtle Beach, Punta Gorda and Sanford. In February they will increase Punta Gorda to daily and Sanford to 5 times per week.
Starting in December Frontier will start 3 flights per week to Orlando. This exactly the types of flights we should be getting here???

You didn’t see? We got 2 flights a day to Detroit coming up. We can’t fill planes to one of the largest cities in the world or an American connection hub 40 minutes away but I’m sure Detroit will do fine. Big things ahead for ORH!!!

I think a big reason that the NYC flight is not successful because NYC is only a 3 to 4 ride by car. After parking your care, checking your bag, going through security, and getting transportation from JFK into the city probably takes same amount of time anyway. If not more time. It would be interesting to see how high speed rail service would work between Worcester and NYC. Could they add Worcester onto one of theACELA stops?

Train and bus from the Boston area are pretty accessible in general. Your point is very good though dan - in the time between the 6 am departure and midnight arrival you could better use your time to drive yourself and still get back well between flights. The gap is too large but like we have said this service was not established to generate a market between Worcester and New York. It is solely to keep Massport happy no matter how empty the planes are. This is why we will never see this service get the fair chance it deserves.
