One more reason to start a Worcester to Punta Gorda flight

This section from USA Today.

But it's already spent $30 million on acquiring 22 acres for the resort, and has budgeted $420 million on the project's first phase, which is expected to break ground by February or early spring. Build-out could take up to two years.

Planned amenities are numerous, and include:

• Two swimming pools, including one that’s 1,000 feet long;

• Roughly 10 restaurants and shops;

• A private, full-service marina;

• A fitness center and spa; and

• Public access to the resort's restaurants and shops and to the waterfront via a boardwalk from county-owned Bayshore Live Oak Park.

Allegiant also recently added an off-site amenity: Kingsway Country Club off Interstate 75 in Lake Suzy, a par-72, Ron Garl-designed course.

Keep in mind Punta Gorda has 1.3 million passengers from Allegiant in 2017. It makes no sense that we do not have a Worcester to Punta Gorda flight with Allegiant.

if you ever want to see Allegiant in Worcester again, you need to Google the 2006 Telegram article and tell those who said that they are a bunch of charlatans and are not welcome back to Worcester to swallow their pride and offer an olive branch. I know what youre going to say. "Thats ancient news and the airport is under new ownership". But those quoted in the article are still leaders in the community that hold sway with businesses and residences. They have to speak up and give Allegiant confidence that they are welcome and they will do everything in their power to support them. Until then, I'm pretty sure that their CEO with a name of Gallagher probably has the genetic make up and is prone to Irish alzheimers. Thats when he's capable of forgetting a lot....... except for the grudges. So, why dont you use your energy and get these guys to reach out to Allegiant, because I for one, with in-laws living in Charlotte County, would LOVE flights to Punta Gorda.

Plane Truth: In 2006 did Punta Gorda have over 1,000,000 people flying into their airport with Allegiant? Did Allegiant have a Sunseeker resort and golf course in Punta Gorda in 2006?? We all know about the past, but a lot has changed. That was the point of this post. Sorry you missed it.

I didnt miss your point at all. Allegiant would be a great addition to Worcester and I applaud your persistance. But if they have grown so much and want to grow more in Punta Gorda, then why havent they returned to Worcester? Especially when Direct Air proved there is a very strong demand for service? Their PDG flights were always full. The only thing I can think of is that they need to hear from the leaders (who are still in place) that were very critical when they pulled out in '06 and said they're not welcome back. Hearing from Massport and a blogger (no offense) is not working and you have to ask yourself "why"? Are you a City taxpayer? Are you a member of they Chamber of Commerce? You keep posting the same thing about how Worcester would be a great fit for Allegiant. And its not working. The definition of insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing, expecting a different result. You're far from insane, all I'm suggesting is use your influence and get the City and business leadership to support your efforts by mending some fences. Why wont you try this? It wont hurt? and there's proof that when the city and business community rallys to attract business, it does work..... jetblue? PawSox? give it a try. You have nothing to lose.

Plane Truth.... Direct Air gave their tickets away and went out of business because of it screwing alot of people. Not sure if using them as an example that there is a demand to Punta Gorda?? BTW we warned people not to fly Direct Air the months prior to their bankruptcy. We are also tax-payers and members of the Chamber of Commerce so that means we can not state our own opinions?? Lastly we helped alot getting JetBlue to Worcester. Plane truth who are we suppose to be mending fencese with??
