FlyORH Is Right Again !!!




Per Lisa Eckelbecker Twitter that Massport will launch $300,000 campaign to market Worcester Airport. Lets hope that does not mean $300,000 into newspaper ads in the Telegram either.

This has been something that we have been urging Massport to do for over a year. Good to see that they are finally realizing one of our biggest problems is the image of Worcester Airport. We still maintain, however, that a spokeman like Denis Leary would be worth every penny he would cost.

Lets hope they keep following our recommendations. Our top three:

1) Get JetBlue to start a second flight to JFK
2) We need to get JetBlue to add, or Delta to change to Detroit, to Gulf coast of Florida and Puerto Rico.

But what they hell do we know at FlyORH???

Its hilarious when all that’s left for our friend here is to comment on typos. My 11 year old nephew does the same thing after he’s defeated.

I find this blog serves a useful purpose. When AA first announced its service a while back, we all slammed the airline for the flight times they proposed. Bill even was on the Worcester cable news stating that he didn't know how the flights (as originally proposed) appealed to anyone. I don't think it’s a coincidence that AA made an adjustment to this service. Also, we've been hammering Massport and the airlines to do an effective marketing plan for the airport. Unfortunately, they waited until AA severely cut back service to do it. I suggested that Massport spend $250,000 to $500,000 to market the airport. They now agreed to a $300,000 campaign. Placing an ad in the programs at the Hanover or participated in the advertising on the parking garages downtown would be very cheap. I also don't see why they’re not doing anything to market to the 35,000 college students. That would require some creative thinking, something that our current airport manager lacks.

Tonight's Chronicle on Channel 5 is all about Worcester including a nice spot on ORH.

Yea Wayne, I saw the first airing of this several moths ago. It was a first-rate piece. Our fine sheriff does a good job selling the airport and the new Cat III landing system. I read on this blog though that the AA planes/ pilots can't use this system right now! Maybe Massport and AA should have held off on starting this service until this issue was addressed. Instead ORH is getting a lot of negative PR in the press from AA cuting back service only after a few months here. People in our area and the Metro-West might find ORH convenient, but if they don't see it as reliable then it might as well be on Mars.

Common sense, I have to admit, you are on fire. We will see if anything changes - Massport has to put their money where their mouth is.
