As a result of the US Air and American merger, JetBlue was able to pick up 24 slots at Washington’s Reagan National Airport. Recently they have been announcing what services that they would be providing to DC.
One route will be twice per day out of Hartford, click here for Hartford Business Journal story. To help kick off the new service starting June 19th, they will have introductory flights at $30.
I find this interesting since when I saw JetBlue CEO, Dave Barger, last year at the DCU, he specifically said watch the way they developed Hartford. Starting in November, 2010, Hartford has a three year head start on Worcester (November 7, 2013).
Lets look at what services they have now:
Fort Lauderdale (FLL)
We have two of these locations (FLL & MCO) already, so one can assume that one of these other 5 locations will be next for Worcester. My bet is still on Puerto Rico.
Although we did not get DC service (never thought we would), we should be happy that Hartfort did. Not only can we fly to DC from Hartford with JetBlue, but maybe in three years when the CAT III is installed and operating— we will be announcing ORH-DC?
Kudos to Hartford!!
