COMMERCIAL SERVICE RETURNS NOVEMBER of 2008

Direct Air, a public charter based in Mytrle Beach, has begun service with two Florida Destinations starting November 22nd utilizing planes and crews from Virgin America. The first location, Sanford, is a good alternative to Orlando, while Punta Gorda lies between Fort Myers and Tampa/St Pete. There are three flights per week to each destination on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday effective November 22, 2008. Here is the schedule:
- 7:00 AM Punta Gorda to Worcester 5802
- 10:30 AM Worcester to Sanford 5805
- 2:00 PM Sanford to Worcester 5804
- 5:15 PM Worcester to Punta Gorda 5803
If you want to track a flight, click here and enter Virgin America (VX) as the airline, flight number above (5802. 5803,5804 or 5805), and the codes for the airport--Worcester (ORH), Punta Gorda (PGD) and Sanford (SFB). To date the service has been excellent and everyone is quite happy. The only complaint that I have heard is that the call center takes forever to answer. I highly recommend that you either go on-line with Direct Air or go to the service desk at the airport that is open on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Starting in March or April of 2009, Direct Air will begin service to Myrtle Beach, their corporate headquarters.

- Any legacy carrier that would provide shuttle service to one of their hubs.
- Allegiant Air: We had them, lost them and still have no idea why so whey can't we get them back?
- USA3000: One of the few secondary airlines that was around five years ago and is still going strong.
- Vacation Express; Public Charter with service to the Caribbean and Mexico.
